We were thrilled when Patches was adopted! Here’s what her new person says:

Just to let you know Patches is doing well. She loves going for a walk and cuddling on the couch after work. So glad I adopted an older dog because she is adjusting well to my routine and is great company. I’ve included a couple of photos of her relaxing. Thanks for helping her out.

Stanley is an adorable ‘decoration’!

Dec. 16th we adopted Dorito…now going by Stanley. He is the cutest little kitty and has made himself right at home. His favorite place to sleep is on a small table with the Christmas decorations. He has a little cold but is taking his medicine like a trouper! Thank you for all you do!!!

Caring for homeless animals like Minnie the Chihuahua(above) and Woody(below) and finding them new homes is very rewarding work. But the costs of maintaining a facility that meets the needs of these animals are enormous. The Animal Protection Center of Southeastern Massachusetts is a registered 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization. We receive no federal or local funding. Donations from animal loving individuals are the only way we can hope to pay the costs of caring for almost 2,500 animals annually.

As just an example of what is done with your donation:

• Vaccinations and other routine care for the animals cost $25,000 annually.
• Heating and electricity are essential for maintaining the comfort of the animals in our care. Monthly utilities run around $3,000.
• A month’s supply of cat litter is $262.
• Enough timothy hay for our small animals to last a month costs $65

Without this organization, 2,500 animals in the area will be left with no where to go each year. We need your help to continue. Please consider contributing to the Animal Protection Center of Southeastern MA.

Adopted from the APCSM, Hathaway is now a certified Canine Good Citizen. We are thrilled to know Hath has found his forever home!

Still waiting for a home is Victor, a 6 month old male pit bull with a stellar personality! He loves any and all affection and so cute, he usually gets it!

“Yankee” was a wonderful dog, and we are so happy to see him in his new home (witha  new name)! Here’s a note from his owner:

Well, I had to rename Yankee because of the dirty looks I got when I called him at the dog park (lol!) so his new name is Clancy.  I chose Clancy because it sounded vaguely like “Yankee”.  After I had picked it, I looked it up and it means red (and possibly red warrior) so it definitely fits!

 He’s slowly slimming down – I’m not sure you can tell from the picture.  However, he gets roasted marrow bones and treats pretty often, so he’s spoiled but he deserves it; he’s such a sweetheart!

After weeks and weeks of dipping cats and sanitizing the shelter, we are SO pleased to announce that a number of cats are now clear of infection and ready to be adopted!

Please stop by the shelter to visit these adorable cats who have patiently tolerated bi-weekly dipping while being confined to their cages. Every single one of them has a stellar personality and is so deserving of a chance to know a real home!

When people heard we had ringworm, rather than turning away, they rallied around us. Volunteers and my staff have gone over and above anything I could have asked to clean the shelter and get the cats treated. Our friends from the public are keeping us fully stocked with all the supplies we need or have made monetary donations so we don’t go without. And we get e-mails daily of support or inquiries about certain cats, waiting for them to be “cleared” for adoption so they can come take them home. The support and kindness from everyone has been overwhelming and I just want to say “Thank you” to everyone for helping see us through this difficult time.

Princess is a 6 year old chihuahua mix who was surrendered to the shelter with a few medical issues. She’s being treated for a skin allergy, and will need to have surgery to have her ‘cherry eye’ repaired. Princess is so incredibly sweet, and we would love to be able to help her with her medical needs. In order to do that, we need help from our supporters.  During this time, we will be treating all the cats in the building with bi-weekly dips and cleaning the shelter by bleaching surfaces countinously. This is a labor intensive endeavor, but the best way to make sure the cats we currently have will be clear from ringworm. Until we have confirmed that the cultures taken from the cats are negative, we cannot send any cats into new homes, due to the risk of introducing ringworm into adopter’s homes.

Once we are certain that the threat has passed, we will be very eager to find homes for these cats! They are all being so patient during this treatment, and will deserve some rest & relaxation once it is through!

We are asking for help from our generous supporters on behalf of the cats. We desperately need help with the following:

-Doantions to our Life is Precious Fund. Treating ringworm in so many cats becomes expensive, and funds are extremely limited!

-Bleach

-Paper Towels

-Clean bedding (sheets, towels, etc)

-Exam gloves and dishwashing gloves

-Cat toys

-Shoe boxes

-Small, cheap tooth brushes (nothing fancy, flat bristles)

-Contractor grade trash bags (3 mil thick)

On Sunday, July 31 from 12-4pm stop by A Cut Beyond in Randolph (51 Mazzeo Drive; phone: 781-963-0096)  for a $15 haircut to benefit the Animal Protection Center of Southeastern MA. There will also be adoptable cats at the salon for you to meet!

We’re hoping to raise money and awareness for the shelter, not to mention help make our supporters look fabulous!
